Because Haapsalu Bay is shallow, it warms up more than the other bays along the Estonian coast in the summers. In summer the average temperature of seawater is +21 degrees.

Although the air humidity is higher in Haapsalu than in the inland, it is considered to be the sunniest resort in Estonia.
