Haapsalu
West Estonian town Haapsalu is primarily known as a quiet summer resort and a place of curative mud. It is considered to be the sunniest resort in Estonia. In addition, as Haapsalu is over 700 years old, it belongs amongst the oldest towns in Estonia.
Today Haapsalu is a favourite place for holidaymakers and health patients throughout a year because of the mud procedures many spas offer. Spa treatments can be enjoyed in Fra Mare Thalasso Day Spa that offers its guests a relaxing leisure time in pool and sauna complex. Haapsalu is also suitable for people who want to have an active holiday. They can play tennis, golf or bowling. They can take a lovely walk in the Paralepa park forest and Paralepa beach or even go for a stick walk in the Paralepa-Pullapää hiking trails (about 8 km). Younger visitors can improve their roller-skating and cycling skills in the Skate-park.
For people who are interested in culture, there are different museums, exhibitions and art galleries. Those who want to explore the night life should visit the legendary nightclub Africa, where they can dance till morning.
Visiting Haapsalu with children
Children's favourite is definitely Haapsalu Swimming Centre with its 6-laned and 25-metre pool, sliding tube (46 m), children's pool, waterfalls and under water massage, a big bubble bath, different saunas and swimming aids. Children are also awaited in Ilon's Wonderland, where they can listen to fairy-tales, do puppet show, explore Karlsson's room, peek into Tom Thumb's room, put on costumes, play adventure games and much more. It's best to come and see it all for yourselves.
Haapsalu is also popular for its playgrounds, where smaller children like to have fun. The biggest playgrounds are on the African beach and the children's park in the Haapsalu Episcopal castle.
